The winter training in 2010 was started when two of the ABOL crew decided to travel to Peterborough, Canada to join the Melbourne-based DAM Busters at the IBCPC Regatta.

Winter conditioning

Paddlers are encouraged to go out for training and conditioning during the off-season.

ABOL initiated this in April 2010, and Aoraki Dragons are encouraging paddlers from other teams to join ABOLers every Sunday morning at Naval Point, Lyttelton for Waka training.

Originally the arrangement was to meet at Owles Terrace at 9:45, for a 10 am launch, but clearly since the Earthquake has disrupted the water quality in the Avon River, so we are using other venues.

One hour's paddling a week should help keep your fitness levels up.
